CAMPBELL'S SOUP BECOMES AN ALPHABET DICE GAME

Chicago--- Anagram crossword games are hot and the newest addition to this burgeoning game category is the Campbell's Alphabet Dice Game produced in a partnership between the Campbell's Soup Company and TDC Games, Inc, a well known maker of innovative board and party games.

Campbell's Alphabet Dice Game is not only the ultimate addition to anyone's collection of word games, but also to kitchen decor as each game in packaged in a whimsically large soup can that even Andy Warhol himself might appreciate. "We believe that Campbell's Game cans will be left out on display in people's kitchens." Says Sandra Bergeson, Executive Vice President of TDC. "It's just such feel-good packaging. People seem to fall in love with it."

Unlike most games in this category, which use about 100 single lettered tiles, Campbell's contains a set of 36 six-sided dice with 216 letters. "There have been a lot of crossword spelling games."Said Larry Balsamo, chief designer of the Campbell's Game project. "We have somehow managed to innovate a completely new way to play an anagram game that's easy as soup to learn, but not so easy to master. The packaging itself is so captivating that people sometimes seem to lose sight of the quality of the game inside of it. You have to imagine a spelling type game that now features strategy and both offensive and defensive moves. To my knowledge, this has never been done before in a crossword game. Both kids and hard core word game players alike are sure to appreciate this new approach."

Soup references abound in the easy to follow single-page instructions. For example, a player can "Slurp" by replacing a letter in the crossword with one or more of his or her own. The die that's removed is then given to another player as a penalty. There is also "Re-heating" and the final "Souper Round." MMGOOD  is actually considered a valid word in this game. Even the losers are also invited to make themselves a soothing bowl of Campbell's Soup as a consolation.

Campbell's Alphabet Dice Game available in toy, gift, department, craft and specialty stores nationwide at a suggested retail price of $12.95.
