The Concept:

Green Pieces are a series of four 500 piece jigsaw puzzles that can actually grow wild flowers.

The Titles:

"Ameri-Cans" is a picture of an American Eagle that has been made with 3,500 aluminum cans. This is the same number discarded in the U.S. every single second.

"I Need a Hug" is a picture of a Panda made from 2,000 pictures of logging operations. It points out that there are less than 2,000 Pandas left in the world because of de-forestation.

"Tiger in Your Tank" is a picture of a tiger that is composed of thousands of small shots of gas guzzling vehicles. It illustrates that there are thousands of species that soon will become extinct because of global warming.

"Crude Awakening" is a picture of marine life made from smaller pictures of 3,000 oil drilling operations. It points out that if 3,000 oil wells were pumped directly into the seas for three hours, it still would not match the amount that is spilled into our oceans each year.

Wild Flowers:

The back of each puzzle has been laminated with a special material that contains the seeds of various wild flower species. By planting the puzzle or the pieces in a pot or the backyard... and watering them... wild flowers will bloom. This will more than offset the small amount of carbon emitted by the manufacture of the puzzle.

Some of the wild flower species are :

Catchfly              Corn Poppy

Creeping Thyme  English Daisy

Foxglove             Golden Yarrow

Monkey Flower   Showy Evening Primrose

Snap Dragons      Tussock-Bell Flower

White Yarrow     Red Yarrow
